CBSO Summer Concert - Beethoven's Best

Sun 13 Jul 7:00pm at Symphony Hall

Classical music doesn’t get any better than Beethoven. The man was a phenomenon, a revolutionary, a prophet and a romantic. His unconventional genius turned music upside down and it’s never been the same since! Tonight is full of vintage Beethoven: there’s a stirring overture, Beethoven’s most poetic piano concerto, and finally, the symphony that changed the world – the Eroica. Written as a radical artist’s homage to a great revolutionary, the symphony had its title-page torn off in fury by Beethoven when its original dedicatee, Napoleon, betrayed the ideals of freedom. That same energy crackles through every bar of this unforgettable masterpiece. Everyone should hear it at least once!
