Alexei is Brant prizewinner

Alexei Petrov has taken first prize in the Robert William & Florence Amy Brant International Pianoforte Competition.

The competition finals, held at Town Hall Birmingham on 27 June, saw three young Russians compete for the top prize of £3000. Alexei Petrov (born 1982 in Russia and now living in London) triumphed with a programme of Scriabin, Brahms and Prokofiev’s seventh sonata. Tatiana Dardykina, was awarded second prize and Alexander Karpeyev was third.
